Future updates regarding Plasma-Core

Regarding Go Godot Jam

Let's get the most important thing out of the way, the elephant in the room. Plasma-Core was developed for the Go Godot Jam 3, but as one might notice, it is no longer listed as being part of that game jam. It's not a long story, but basically, the music I used for the game was unclear to the moderators in terms of being safe for streaming, which is in violation of one of the jams rules, which got the game disqualified.
I will not dispute this, since while Aviators does allow music from the instrumentals only albums (where I got the music from) to be used for free in personal projects so long as there isn't any monetization on it, Youtube can be a bit temperamental, and the trailer I made does currently have a copyright claim.
I am saddened by the fact the game got disqualified, especially since I was looking forward to seeing the results, and also that all the comments are gone now, it does not mean that I have given up on the game. It has potential, and is a good game.

Plasma-Core Update 1

Speaking of not giving up, I had originally planned a post-voting period update. And it's still going to happen, it just wont be called the "Post-Voting Period Update". This update will release sometime this week, and will include a few improvements and fixes that improve on what I had originally published.

Plasma-Core Update 1 will include

  • Signage to make level transitions more clear
  • Fixes to the boss fight + rebalancing the boss
  • Small HUD improvements
  • Moving the back-end from GLES2 to GLES3. This should mean better performance and better effects.
  • Changing the music from Aviators to White Bat Audio. I now know the kind of music style and mood to use, and White Bat Audio has a bunch of synthwave tracks without copyright that I can look into.

Plasma-Core Future Big Update

Much later on, I will also do a much bigger update. Plasma-Core was meant to be a bigger game with more features, all that had to be cut for the deadline. I will be working on adding those features in, re-doing the level design, and overall making a better, more cohesive and more expansive experience. I don't know when this version of the game will release, but I hope to make it before December of this year. Some features to expect are:

  • A save feature
  • A basic economy system
  • More enemy variety
  • More music variety
  • Longer play time

Looking forward to the future of Plasma-Core. Not the game I thought I'd make and keep up, but hey, unexpected things happen!
